Thanks to public money, 148 hectares of deciduous trees (mainly beech, birch and oak) and 37 hectares of evergreens (Douglas Fir, pines and larch) were planted throughout the park between 1990-2006.
From the Urkiola basoak public woodland, an annual average of 2,275 cubic metres of wood has been extracted, most of it as entresacay between 1995-2004.
Private owners who have land in the park have cut an annual average of 30 hectares per year, equivalent to 9,000 metres of wood. This data is an average of the last 13 years and range annually from the 11.5 hectares cut in 1996 to the 73.5 hectares in 1999.
